Heath Ledger Found Dead in NY
Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday afternoon in a SoHo, NYC apartment. He was 28.
According to The New York Times, Ledger had an appointment with a masseuse, who showed up at his door at 3:31 Tuesday afternoon but got no answer. A housekeeper then opened the door and they found the actor unconscious, with prescription pills nearby. Responding paramedics did CPR on Ledger, to no avail. He was pronounced dead on the scene. It has yet to be determined whether he committed suicide or his death was the result of an accidental drug overdose.
What a waste. After all, Ledger, who got a Best Actor Oscar nod for playing a gay cowboy in "Brokeback Mountain", was one of the best actors of his generation. He also leaves behind a daughter, Matilda, with "Brokeback" co-star Michelle Williams.
If the "The Dark Knight", where Ledger takes on the role of "The Joker", has already been considered a sure-fire hit before the actor's death, we can now expect Christian Bale's second Batman movie to become a monster hit when it is shown this summer. It is, after all, Ledger's final performance, and even people who barely knew anything about the dead actor will watch it out of sheer curiosity.
