Life after Buffy the Vampire Slayer wasn't as kind to Joss Whedon as one'd imagine; his next big series, Firefly, was ill-fated to last nothing more than a season. Perhaps it was the idea of a "space western", complete with cowboy-type music from Firefly, that didn't appeal that strongly to wider audiences. But that didn't keep the show from amassing a cult following that would, ultimately, lead to the creation of the Firefly-based movie Serenity.
