Electronic Cigarettes, Anyone?
You gotta love the Chinese for their ingenuity. Especially if you’re a smoker who wants to quit so badly, but just couldn’t kick the habit.
Chinese inventors have come up with a battery-powered electronic cigarette that blows not smoke, but water vapor. And instead of the usual tar that you get from those stinking cigarettes, the plastic Crown Seven electronic cigarette offers a mix of:
1. water
2. nicotine
3. artificial smoke flavor
4. propylene glycol, the chemical used in smoke machines
Take a drag on it, and one end glows red, just like your typical cigarette. With smoking bans popping up everywhere, such a smokeless and tobacco-free ciggie could sure come in handy.
But it’s far from perfect. Smokers at a test smoking commented that it "tastes like strawberries", while others complained about the "herbal" taste and billowy vapor.
Another turn-off is the price. This cigarette, sold online, costs a hundred bucks a pop. The replaceable filter packs, however, are much cheaper. Five filter packs costs $10, and 1 filter pack is the equivalent of 2 packs of ciggies.
Now if they could only come up with a thingie that mimics snorting coke, without the coke. That could be the end of the war against drugs.
