Don’t let the title mislead you. I’ve been an avid 24 viewer for its almost ten years of existence. I love the sound of its opening theme. I was one of those who were stunned when Teri Bauer, in a brilliant move by the show’s creators that set the perpetually tragic tone for Jack Bauer all throughout the series, was killed off in the last few minutes of the first season. TV shows come and go (well, maybe with the exception of COPS and The Simpsons), but television theme songs will always stay with us, be it nostalgic or just plain annoying. Okay, Six Feet Under was an unprecedented success, but while the show itself was a scathingly brilliant story stern to stern, part of the charisma comes from the equally masterful soundtrack. Thomas Newman’s now-familiar music from Six Feet Under set the mood for the entire series perfectly, since nothing says noir more than a series about death.

Like a bad haircut during 3rd grade – or an equally bad career move, as was the case with Timothy Dalton, one of the previous incarnations of James Bond – the Mission Impossible theme carries on from one century to another, generating the hype and excitement that, for good or ill, the original series had going for it. This isn’t to say that all the recent movies were bad; but anybody’d admit that the music from Mission impossible had a lot to do with the franchise’s attitude. Even a band like Limp Bizkit couldn’t ruin it.

Rocky was Sylvester Stallone, even more than Rambo ever was. This movie launched the actor into action stardom, landing him on par with Arnold Schwarzenegger. The music from Rocky only made the overall feel of the movie more believable.
