Damn writers’ strike. No, I’m not in favor of it, nor am I against it. I can’t even tell who got greedier, the networks/producers or the writers. All I know is that it sucks, because that means most, if not all TV shows that I’ve been following religiously for the last few seasons will get whacked mid-season, and there’s no telling when they will get resurrected to finish whatever the hell story they’re trying to tell. Thank heavens “The Sopranos”, my favorite TV show of all time, has finally finished its run, and will get spared from the oncoming drought. …

Sure, the number of countries allowing same-sex marriages is growing, and therefore, the number of married gay couples is on the rise as well. There are, however, a number of countries that not only does not allow gay marriages, but also treats homosexuality as a crime punishable by death. Definitely no gay pride parades here.
My advice to same-sex couples: if you’re going on a honeymoon, steer clear of the countries listed below, where being gay sucks, big time.

It’s fascinating how the human mind is capable of coming up with a myriad of names for things that can otherwise be straightforwardly called by its real name. Like breasts, for instance. The Transformers were an icon of the 80’s just as much as Hiroshima was a WWII monument of the 40’s. Every kid on the block knew who Optimus Prime and Megatron were, and could easily mimic the transformation sequences’ sound effects. But recall of the music from The Transformers was such that although various incarnations of the theme were created throughout the years, the very essence of the original still shone through like the eternal voice of Optimus Prime himself.

I’ve sat through all the Saw and Hostel movies, and I wasn’t the least bit affected by all the gore. It was all crappy special effects anyway. But reading about how the most horrifying torture devices in history–the real ones– worked, is an entirely different thing. Maybe I just have an over-active imagination, but by the time I got to torture device no. 12, nausea was already setting in.
