The sudden and tragic death of Academy Award-nominated actor Heath Ledger on Tuesday is the latest in a long line of actors who have passed away at the prime of their life. Shocking as Ledger’s death may be, it isn’t the first time a well-known actor died before they even reached the age of 30, and, with the unpredictable nature of death, certainly wouldn’t be the last.

Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday afternoon in a SoHo, NYC apartment. He was 28.
According to The New York Times, Ledger had an appointment with a masseuse, who showed up at his door at 3:31 Tuesday afternoon but got no answer. A housekeeper then opened the door and they found the actor unconscious, with prescription pills nearby. Responding paramedics did CPR on Ledger, to no avail. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The news that the just-married Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds became just-separated after only two weeks is surprising, but not shocking. Why? Because their union is not the shortest celebrity marriage on record. Far from it.
