9 Unintentionally Sexual Ads
There’s no doubt that sex sells. The porn industry is growing by leaps and bounds, with porn star salaries skyrocketing; Celebrity sex tapes are everywhere; And don’t get me started on today’s movies. Then there’s the world of modern advertising, where even the most mundane things like ice cream or canned food get pushed in ads by bikini-clad women or shirtless hunks with six-pack abs.
There are, however many ads, especially those from a supposedly more “innocent” time, that are sexually suggestive even when there’s nothing blatantly sexual about them. Whether the people who did the copy or worked on the images for the ads shown below were not really aware of their work’s sexual undertones, or were actually aware of them and did everything on purpose is subject to debate. But one thing’s for certain: "getting " the sexual suggestions in these ads means we’re no longer that innocent.
1. Sega
Ever wonder why Sega’s out of the consumer console business? Competition from Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft just got too stiff.
2. Tickle
Just what were they selling, deodorants or orgasms?
3. Duncan Hines
If this ad were made and published today, the company and the ad agency would most certainly get their asses sued off as a bunch of pedophiliac pervs.
4. Chase & Sanborn
Now if his housewife’s secretly into S&M, he’ll never get to drink fresh coffee at home ever again.
5. Hyundai
From the looks of things, this big guy’s opponent is going down…in more ways than one.
6. Mr. Leggs
Yet another S&M-themed, albeit extremely creepy, ad from yesteryear.
7. Gardasil
Either this ad’s copywriter is a brilliant wordplayer, or an OB-GYN in a past life.
8. Tipalet
The way the woman's mouth is partly open in this ad seems to suggest she's expecting something other than cigarette smoke blown on her face.
9. Oil Can Henry’s
OK, so this is just a billboard ad, but it’s just too funny to pass up.
