5 Crazy Lawsuits Involving Strippers
Watching strippers do their thing, live, is supposed to be this nice way to unwind and escape, even for just a little while, from whatever’s troubling us at work or at home. It's certainly much better than just watching the ten best striptease scenes on film over and over again. The fun, however, stops when somebody gets hurt in the course of a performance. And when somebody gets hurt—physically or otherwise—there’s bound to be lawsuits. While there are indeed serious lawsuits against customers assaulting strippers, there are also stripper-related lawsuits that elicit a snicker or two, as they stem from incidents that tend to be, well, kinda absurd, just like these crazy lawsuits involving strippers.
1. Man gets a kick out of stripper—in the face
Greg Bonnett of Coquitlam, B.C sued a stripper for kicking him in the face during a performance. The incident took place when the stripper swung around a pole and accidentally kicked Greg Bonnett, who had a front-row seat at the Barnet Hotel in Port Moody, right in the face. He claims the kick broke his nose, and that he had been suffering from blurred vision, headaches and breathing difficulties.
2. When Racks Attack
Paul Shimkonis, a physical therapist from Florida, alleged that a stripper from a topless club called Bloopers assaulted him with her 69-HH breasts during a lap dance at his own bachelor party in September 1996. The stripper, he claimed, slammed her breasts against his head and almost knocked him out. Saying her breasts felt like cement blocks hitting him, he sued Bloopers for $15,000 right there on TV's People's Court. That court eventually ruled he wasn’t really hurt by the stripper.
3. When Racks Attack 2
A pair of 40-pound breasts is at the center of a $200,000 lawsuit filed by Bernie Carson against PT's Show Club, a strip club. According to Carson, one of the club’s strippers bashed her enormous breasts against his head, and caused him "emotional distress, mental anguish, and indignity", on top his being "bruised, confused, lacerated and made sore" by the incident.
4. Mom kicks male stripper's ass for sub-par performance
For putting out a lackluster performance, a 28-year-old male stripper was beaten up by the mother of a bride-to-be after a bachelorette party in Illinois in July 2002.
Apparently, the mom was angered when the male stripper, who showed up late, turned out to be just pinch-hitting for the dancer they requested. Tempers further flared when the substitute stripper did not pay much attention to the bride-to-be during his performance, which he also ended a lot sooner than expected.
The stripper was punched, kicked and hit over the head with a bottle, suffered bruises, scratches and head injuries. The mother eventually pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery, and was sentenced to 30 days of court supervision as well as ordered to pay the victim $2,500. Battery charges were also brought up against her daughter and the bridesmaid, but they were eventually dropped.
5. Schoolboy Gets Spanking From Stripper In School
Actually, this one is just too recent to make it to court just yet, but it definitely has ”lawsuit” written all over it. That is, if this happened within the United States. Too bad this took place in the U.K., where people aren’t as lawsuit-happy.
In November 2007, a teenage schoolboy in the U.K. got the birthday surprise of his life from a stripper dressed as a policewoman who barged into his classroom at the Arnold Hill School and Technology College in Nottingham and whipped him in front of the whole class for being “a very naughty boy”.
Aside from the spanking, the stripper also made the boy wear a collar and pulled him around the classroom, and eventually stripped down to her bra and pants, all to the tune of a Britney Spears song.
As it turned out, the whole fiasco stemmed from a booking error by a company hired by the kid’s mother to surprise him at school with a "gorilla gram" on his 16th birthday. But instead of a singing person in a gorilla suit, he got a stripper-policewoman—and much, much more.
A spokesperson for the school said they are still investigating the incident.
