5 Adult Jobs and Salary Examples
So you want to break into the adult business. We don’t blame you, really, because whether we like it or not, jobs in the adult industry are some of the more profitable ones around. Many people jump into it as a way to supplement their income, while some have already made a career out of it, not only because of the money, but because they’re also happy with what they’re doing.
If you’re comfortable with the way you look, have little or no inhibitions about taking a few or all items of clothing off in front of a camera or an audience, and have a healthy (and naughty) sense of adventure, then taking on adult jobs may just be the thing or you. Here are some adult jobs you can take a swing at, as well as an idea on how much you’re gonna earn.
1. Semi-nude photography model
If posing in your birthday suit isn’t exactly your kind of thing, then posing semi-nude is just right for you. Semi-nude modeling could range from posing in lingerie, swimsuits or costumes or just being topless, and that’s pretty much it. There are a number of photographers out there who are into “artistic” photography, and you could pose for them without having to show much skin. And as long as you find jobs like this from a legit company, you get the chance to earn $75 or more per hour.
2. Fully nude model
This is self-explanatory. Generally, models who fully take their kit off get paid more than semi-nude ones. Whether you’re doing this for a more risqué type of publication like Hustler or for nude Internet sites, you shouldn’t get anything less than $100/hr.
3. Toy model
Sex toy companies are always on the lookout for men and women who would model their products for their publications, brochures and websites. And they pay very well: beginners at this line of work can get upwards of $200 per job. So the more sex toys you pose with, the more you’ll earn.
4. Exotic dancer
Exotic dancer, stripper, whatever. The fact is, strip club dancers, the really good ones at least, can earn up to $1,000 a night in tips alone. And while strippers generally don’t have a fixed salary, they could earn a whole lot more by selling one-on-one lap dances and shower shows, or cajoling customers into buying time in a VIP room, which could cost as much as $500 an hour, for a private show. Just be careful you don’t kick customers in the face while dancing or you’ll find yourself involved in a crazy lawsuit.
5. Adult video performer
Of course, when the previous four adult jobs seem a bit too tame for your taste, you could always perform in adult videos. Since appearing in such films entails the “most work”, if you know what I mean, adult video stars get paid the most. While the pay scale varies from performer to performer, a female newbie to the business should get at least $3,000 per video.
On the average, adult video performers earn $100,000 to $250,000 at the end of the year. But for the highest-paid pornstars in the world, that figure is chicken feed.
