20 Most Homophobic TV Commercials
In a world that appears to be trying to be politically correct, homophobia is still pretty prevalent, especially in countries where being gay is a crime.
While it seems that other bigotries have at the very least been toned down, in public at least, poking fun at or perpetuating stereotypes of gay people is still very much around. Movies do it, TV shows do it, and so do these homophobic commercials that will definitely make Isaiah Washington proud.
1. Fernet Cinzano
A collection of gay stereotypes, punctuated by a guy sucking on a piece of ice in his mouth and asking the rest of the guys, "You like?".
2. Snickers
Admittedly, speedwalking or racewalking is a sport that should be scrapped from the Olympics simply because it looks silly. But Mr. T's assertion that the speedwalker is "a disgrace to the man race" who should "run like a real man" suggests that the hapless guy must be gay because of his swishing hips, and deserves to be shot with a Snickers-firing cannon.
3. Snickers (again)
Two butch guys accidentally kiss while eating a Snickers bar, recoil in disgust, and proceed to rip off their own chest hairs as a show of manliness. So ripping one's chest hairs off their hands makes one less gay?
4. Dodge Caliber
A fairy punishes a butch guy for making fun of her by turning him and his dog into stereotypical nancies. Some punishment.
5. WKD Original Vodka
A recurring theme of WKD commercials is having a group of buddies embarrassing one of their number in various situations. This time, they chose to embarrass a friend whose girlfriend is coming over to their pad by prancing around dressed in nothing but tiny aprons.
6. LadyService Liquid Soap
Want to avoid being raped by large, predatory homosexuals in prison? Use liquid soap instead.
7. Lynx Body Spray
This ad was actually doing fine until the 36th second, when the mayor is at the mercy of a burly bodyguard who suddenly blows him a kiss, part of the Pied Piper's revenge against him for shortchanging him of his wages. Again, something gay as punishment.
8. OMO Laundry Detergent
If a guy shows up in karate class wearing a pink kimono, then he's supposed to be in for a lot of bullying.
9. Polaroid
Hyper-feminine men really are predatory, if this Polaroid commercial is to be taken at face value.
10. Panasonic Sonic Max Shavers
Fists fly and necks get wrung the moment some prisoner touches another guy's freshly shaved cheek and says "beauuutifuul". Homophobic violence at its finest.
11. Reebok
The guy in this ad would rather die of snakebite than be mistaken for a gay person.
A series of ads for Milwaukee's Best Light portrays men who exhibit even the slightest hint of stereotypical "gayness" as nothing more than guys who deserve nothing less than being crushed by a giant can of Milwaukee's Best Light.
